BRENHAM, Texas (April 20, 2021) – Youth Fishing League duo of Zane Parker of Goodrich, TX and Garrett Wilson of Willis, TX won the US Army High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing at Lake Somerville Presented by Googan Baits on Saturday in Brenham, Texas. The event was hosted by Compete College Station and the victory saw the winning team qualify for the 2021 US Army High School Fishing presented by the National Preferred Fishing Championship.

The top 25 high school teams that compete in each U.S. Army High School Fishing Tournament featured by Favorite Fishing Tournament will receive a free Favorite Fishing Package, which includes a Favorite Fishing Rod and Reel, Fishing Rod, and a favorite fishing reel, six packs of Googan baits and two favorite fishing hats, totaling $ 230. Most tournaments will also be hosted by a Bass Pro Tour fisherman or a Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit fisherman, giving high school students the chance to meet the top pros in the sport. As a bonus, the winning team of each tournament will receive a guided fishing trip with their professional fishing host.

US Army High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing Tournaments are free two-way (team) events for grades 7-12 and are open to any high school club affiliated with the MLF and the Student Angler Federation. The top 10 percent of teams at each open event along with the TBF High School Fishing State Championships will advance to the 2021 U.S. Army High School Fishing Championship presented by the National Favorite Fishing Championship. The US Army High School Fishing National Champions will each receive a $ 5,000 scholarship to the school of their choice.

In addition to the U.S. Army National High School Fishing Championship, all high school anglers nationwide automatically qualify for the world’s largest open high school bass tournament, the 2021 World High School Fishing Finals, organized jointly with the national championship. Over $ 2.8 million in scholarships and prizes were offered at the 2020 World Finals.
