Tennessee’s Wright takes victory at Phoenix Bass Fishing League event on Barren River
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (June 27, 2022) – Boater Dylan Wright from Murfreesboro, Tennesseecaught five bass on Saturday weighing 17 pounds and 5 ounces, to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League Presented by TH Marine on the Barren River . The tournament was the fourth event in the mountain division of the Bass Fishing League. Wright earned $4,796 for her victory.
“I got to my first spot and nobody was there,” Wright said. “I caught a limit pretty early and then moved to another location around 9am and stayed there and just picked up all day. All in all, it went pretty well. »
Wright said he had never fished the Barren River before except for two days of training in the week leading up to the event. During the tournament, he focused on the mid-lake points with a quivering head rig, fitted with a robotworm, casting in 10 feet of water on spikes and dragging his bait to depths of about 20 feet. Wright said his method resulted in 25 keepers and no short fish on the day.
“It feels really good,” Wright said after picking up his first BFL victory. “I’ve had tournaments where I left the lake and felt bad, and I’ve also had close calls, like last week at the Music City Division’s Old Hickory Lake event where I finished second, so to finish that one on top feels good.
