Kentucky’s Abbott Takes Victory at Phoenix Bass Fishing League Event on Dale Hollow Lake

Georgia Henson Wins Strike King Co-Angler Division

BYRDSTOWN, TN (March 21, 2022) – Boater Tristan Abbott from Somerset, Kentuckycaught five bass on Saturday weighing 20 pounds, 1 ounce, to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League presented by TH Marine on Dale Hollow Lake. The tournament, hosted by Star Point Marina and Resort, was the season opener for the mountain division of the Bass Fishing League. Abbott won $7,200 for his win.

“We took off in the morning and had a run on the lake,” Abbott said. “I had been on fish and caught them for most of the winter, and I was very lucky that they stayed in the same area.

“I had one of the fish I weighed in the first hour or so,” Abbott added. “And it went from there. I was happy with my day. I fished net all day and didn’t lose a single fish.

Abbott said he spent most of his day trying to boost his 4-pound bag by targeting fish, in the middle of the lake around rock chunks and channels that held baitfish. Abbott said his baits of choice were an Alabama rig and a Berkley Stunna Jerkbait.

“It was a good day of fishing all around,” Abbott said. “This victory is long overdue. I’ve finished second a few times and won angler of the year last year in the mountain division, and I’d like to repeat that.
