Madison’s Duvall Claims Strike King Co-Angler Division
GAINESVILLE, Ga. (August 29, 2022) – Boater Ty Overmyer from Dawsonville, Georgiacaught 10 bass weighing 30 pounds, 7 ounces, to win both days MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League Presented by TH Marine on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, GA . The tournament was the fifth and final regular season event for the Bulldog Division of the Bass Fishing League. Overmyer earned $7,138 for his victory.
“A lot of hard work went into this, and it really paid off,” Overmyer said. “Knowing the lake really helped me a lot to fish in these difficult conditions.
“I had really slow mornings and as the sun came up it positioned the fish in the brush piles. I ran as many as I could,” Overmyer added.
Overmyer said he focused on the south end of the lake for the two days of competition and his efforts produced five bars on Saturday and eight on Sunday. He said he used a Trickster Tricky Shad Fluke and let it run to brush the piles on Saturday. Overmyer said Sunday’s wind pushed the shallow herring over the tips and his key bait was Evergreen Shower Blows 77.7 surface bait.
“It was a slow bite, but it was the right bite,” Overmyer said. “My fellow angler and I cast the surface baits in tandem and it caused the fish to come and eat. It also helps when someone else throws one.
